2014: My Hair Goal

2014

Hello my lovelies!!

Happy New Year!!

Did you make any resolutions? I didn’t. But this year like every year, I have a theme, a big picture, I set goals.

I have a singular hair goal for 2014: LENGTH!!

I haven’t studied my hair’s growth rate, but at the end of the year, I want to see significant improvement. 4 to 6 inches in twelve months is fair enough, no?

A goal is a destination- so if you’re going to get there, you really have to think about HOW you’re getting there.

My plan:

Length Retention is the focus.

And Protective styling is the way. I plan to put my hair in Protective styles- alternating between extensions and my own hair. Extensions one month, no extensions in the next. Minimal manipulation is key, and I’m going to have to master some styles this year! I must!!

Also, while I’m at this, I intend to keep my hair healthy and happy. Clean, well moisturised- and between styles, I must make sure I deep condition- and baby my hair well-well. 🙂

Doesn’t look like too heavy a plan now, does it?

I’m already off to a good start- I have a sew-in weave at the moment. I hope I’m consistent!

So guys. You’ve heard my Hair Goal for 2014, I want to know yours. Are you transitioning this year? Big chopping this year? Are you looking to add a few more inches? Or to finally master how to moisturise?

More than your goals, I want to know HOW you plan to get there. Sound off in the comments section sharing what your goal is, and how you’re going to achieve it! Good luck ladies!!

  2. Yes o AB!! More length retention dz year. To me long hair is healthy hair. I plan to retain all 6 inches dz year by keeping my ends hidden in protective styles 90 percent of the time whilst washing and deep conditioning every week and using jbco n peppermint oil on my scalp three times a week. I don’t trust these hair dressers with my hair so either I do extensions myself or I wear a wig. I also plan on cutting out combs. Found out fingers are much more friendly to my ends than combs. So yeah, it sounds time consuming but since waist length hair is my ultimate goal, I think its worth it.

  3. Length, can’t say how long, I just know I would like it to get longer and be healthy! i don’t wear protective styles, so I’m really interested in seeing if my hair will retain the length while i wash 2-3 times a week, deep condition weekly and trim ends every 8 weeks (or so). I’ll post pics next time I measure.
    Good Luck!!

  4. You’ve said it all. For me, this year, I am looking forward to retaining some length say 6 inches and trimming an inch off before the end of the year.

  5. I think I am the only one without a hair goal or is keeping fairy knots to a minimum a goal? if I can control the fairy knots I would be less tempted to trim my hair every single time I touch my hair and then I can retain length

  7. I am hoping to GAIN some length this year too. And, as such, will be starting a castor Oil Challenge in a week or so! Hope it works as well for me as it does for others!!
