AB Loves: Midas Naturals Whipped Shea Butter

P.S. The packaging is different now

P.S. This was just a sample. The Midas Naturals label is different now.

Hey Guys!

Recently, I got to try product samples from a new organic hair product line, Midas Naturals. I loved the Whipped Shea Butter so much! ❤ Midas Naturals is a UK based company, but I’m proud to say that it is owned by a Nigerian. 🙂

Ingredients:

Aqua, organic shea butter (butyrospermum parkii), avocado oil (persea grattissima), coconut oil (cocos nucifera), emulsifying wax NF (cetearyl alcohol & polysorbate 60), olive oil (olea europaea), crambe seed oil (abyssinica), organic palm oil (elaeis guineenis), stearic acid, xanthan gum, phenoxyethanol, vanilla cream fragrance oil.

Worth noting: Water is its first ingredient, and this is humectant free.

Shea butter, water and easily absorbable oils are the soul of this, with other ingredients to hold everything together.

Claims: Containing a rich, nourishing blend of shea butter, coconut and crambe oils, our thick hair butter is perfect for sealing in moisture after washing and conditioning. It is also great as a styling butter to create highly defined twist outs, braid-outs and bantu knot-outs.

Directions: On wet or dry hair, apply a penny size amount to each section then proceed with styling. Use more or less as required, but remember a little goes a long way!

MY EXPERIENCE

I got a 50ml sample tub and its been a while since I finished it.

I tried this for my first ever Twist & Curl, and I had such a BOMB twist out! You can see photos in my Dry Twist & Curl post. After seeing the wonderful twist out, I figured using my sample on sealing after I moisturise would be a waste.

Every day with this is a good hair day and by this I mean I get superior definition, and that high shine that I like!! I live in a very humid land, so swelling is inevitable. But for what it’s worth, this is nice while it lasts.

A little does go a long way! 50ml saw me through 3 weeks of the Twist & Curl and a little more- that’s between 10-15 uses.

More than the definition, more than the shine, here’s what I love about this concoction: One week, I used it to twist and retwist my hair for 5 days straight, and at the end of the week, I did not have greasy, weighed down hair! I’m no scientist but hey, I believe this could be attributed to the fact that it’s a very light formula and the oils in this are famous for being easily absorbed.

In addition to not having greasy hair after continued use, my hair was still soft at the end of the week. I moisturised and sealed and left my hair to dry before styling with this butter, and I didn’t need to spritz with water or anything!

Granted, my hair is in pretty good shape, and with our understanding (hair & I), hair can go without water spritzing or conditioner for days, a week- but I love that the butter maintained the happy hair situation, and gave me good twist outs! And the subtle vanilla scent is lovely 🙂

  1. I swear by Shea butter coz its the only product (so far) that makes my hair feel thicker when I rut it in. I am using the 100% African one and Le Klair’s repair one. After weeks of not seeing a difference to my hair length after rubbing it in everyday, a mate told me I had to put in an oil afterwards to ‘trap’ the moisture, so I am doing this now and hoping for better results…
