Product Review: Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturising Conditioner

Happy Independence Day, my fellow Nigerians!

Like play like play, we’ve entered the final quarter of year 2014. Can you believe it?

In two weeks, I’ll be done with NYSC. It’s nice to move on but, where did the year go?

Anyway. This is not why we are here!

Today, I’m here to sing the praises of my favourite conditioner (for co-washing), the Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturising Conditioner. This is probably not the first time I’ve talked about Hello Hydration on the blog, and I actually thought I’d reviewed it before, but I hadn’t. So here I am now. 🙂

herbal essences hello hydration 1 liter-360x360

I started using this in January to see what the hype was about. Since then I have restocked twice so I can tell you from my experience that the hype is well deserved. MeeMee agrees, and so does my roommate.

Ingredients:

Water/Eau, Stearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetyl Alcohol, Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Zea Mays (Corn) Silk Extract, Orchis Mascula Flower Extract, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Fragrance/Parfum, Benzyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Blue 1.

Worth noting: this product contains bis-aminopropyl dimethicone. This is a silicone, but it is more water soluble than just plain ‘dimethicone’. Personally, I’m fine with silicones, and if you clarify once a month, you have no need to worry about using products with cones.

Stearyl alcohol and Cetyl alcohol are fatty alcohols. They help soften the hair and lubricate our strands to make detangling easier.

Claims:

Serum-infused formula for moisturised softness. Let this rich conditioner indulge you from root to tip, moving moisture through your hair to quench parched strands. It is a sip of satisfaction.

How To Use:

It can be safely used for co-washing, deep conditioning and as a leave-in. I love to co-wash with this. I’ve used it as a DC or leave-in on occasion, not too crazy about using it these ways though.

Packaging:

Pretty functional, perfect for me. I love that it comes in different sizes- from the 200ml travel size to the 1L bottle with a pump.

First Impressions:

The scent is supposed to be a mix of coconuts and orchids. I don’t know what orchids smell like, but this is good! Love the consistency too! Thick but not too thick.

The Business

After a wash, my hair is always soft, and super moisturised. Most times, my coils are super hydrated, they really pop in a way that I’ve only been able to get after a mudwash! This thick condish has such great slip, it almost melts away tangles. I want nothing more from a conditioner. Definitely “a sip of satisfaction” as described, it has since become one of my staples. 🙂

Where to Find:

10.1 fl oz for 1,600 Naira at Sizzelle Store

Are you a fan of this conditioner too? Where do you get yours?

Love,

AB,

xx

  1. I’m so not a serious natural! lol. I don’t know about silicones and how bad they are…oh dear.
I just use Shea Moisture all the time because it’s natural. I use this too and it makes my hair feel so soft. Love it and at that price it’s totally worth stocking up on.

  2. You’re so right. I use this as a Dc mixed with some oils. The coil poppage is on another level. It leaves me with very soft well detangled hair. I tried using as a leave in..but my scalps gets very very itchy afterwards. I used to get from the obodos..but i found some in Amigo stores recently and one Pharmacy in Wuse 2 (can’t Remember the name).

  3. Been wanting to try this conditioner so bad. I’ve seen it stocked at Casa Bella for 1800 or so… I’ll probably just get it there cos if I buy it online for cheaper, I’ll still have to pay for delivery
