Jessicurl Confident Coils Collection + Spiralicious Styling Gel

Hello my lovelies!!

AB here! It’s time for another Jessicurl review!

MeeMee and I were each sent the Confident Coils Collection and one additional product, by the lovely people over at Jessicurl. Her experience is over here, and now here’s mine.

We did not receive any compensation for this (or any of our product reviews, ever) and you can trust our reviews to be our honest opinions. I got my products on May 5, and I’ve used each one at least twice. In fact, one of the conditioners is actually finished so I feel more than qualified to air my opinions.

I wrote my review at first, but it was hella long! So I decided to make a video instead, for a change. I’d like you to watch it and give me feedback. I’m new to this long long business of vlogging, it makes me feel like such an old lady! Lol I hope you enjoy it! 🙂

WORTH NOTING:

All 5 products are water based, but in the conditioners, the water is infused with herbs.

All 5 products share the last 4 ingredients, which I believe make the citrus-lavender scent.

Twinnies? Almost!

I only realised this after recording the video. The Too Shea! And the Deep Conditioning Treatment have the same ingredients, save for a few differences:

– In the Too Shea! Conditioner, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice comes right before Behentrimonium Methosulfate and Cetearyl Alcohol, whereas in the Deep Treatment, the reverse is the case.

Too Shea! Has 2 ingredients the deep treatment doesn’t have, and the Deep Conditioning Treatment has one ingredient that’s absent in the Too Shea. They are in red.

I think this close similarity explains why I found the Deep Conditioning Treatment disappointing. I wouldn’t buy both products together, for the 2 different functions they’re mainly advertised that is, as an instant condish and deep conditioner. They both work as leave-in, instant and deep conditioners, so if you were wondering about spending your money on two, I’d just say, pick one. Pick Too Shea! 😉

A Little Science

Just in case you’re wondering…

Cetearyl alcohol is a good alcohol. It is not drying. It is a fatty alcohol, usually used as an emulsifier to make the oil and water in a product mix. This makes it possible for your conditioner to spread easily. For more on fatty alcohols, see this piece on the Natural Haven Bloom over here.

Behentrimonium methosulfate is not a sulphate, don’t be afraid. It contributes to slip, that is, the slipperiness we desire in conditioners, for easy detangling. More over here.

Plus, Behentrimonium methosulfate and Cetearyl alcohol complement each other. This is because fatty alcohols give Behentrimonium methosulfate a boost, to condition and moisturise better.

See why I made a video? This blurb is already long!!

Where To Find:

Jessicurl is available at Jessicurl.com (They ship internationally) and in Nigeria, you can get yours at Olori.com.ng.

Have you tried any (of these) Jessicurl products? How do they work for you? Will you be trying? And if you’re a type 4 sista, I’m really interested in knowing how you work with the Spiralicious Gel & Confident Coils Styling Solution.

Love,

  3. Hi AB, I noticed that your Spiralicious doesn’t contain alcohol but the one I have contains alcohol. I didn’t notice it until my hair felt dry. It has slip and all but the dryness….what’s your experience with it and how did you use it?
